The objective of Research @ FMSF is three-fold:

Develop our Knowledge/Resource base
Develop tools for the Voluntary Sector
To act as a centre for providing support in Research to other like-minded Agencies

The Research activities at FMSF are designed in line with the above mentioned objectives.

The focus of FMSF’s Research has been on three key areas; financial management, social accountability & audit and Governance.


Over the years, FMSF has worked on many areas and developed material on various development related issues.


Under these three key focus areas, various topics like ‘Financial management of Local-self Government institutions’, ‘Methodology for valuation of people’s contribution in voluntary organizations’, ‘Integrated monitoring tool’ have been researched upon and papers/concept notes have been developed. FMSF has also published many of its research work as books like Social Accountability Standards, Handbook on Social Audit for NGOs, Handbook on Financial Audit & Reporting in NGOs.
