The Ministry of Labour & Employment has enhanced the EPFO wage ceiling from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 per month.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment vide gazette notification number S.O. 5109(E) dated 17-Sep-2026, has enhanced the wage ceiling for mandatory coverage under the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 per month with effect from 17-Sep-2026.
The EPFO wage ceiling was remained unchanged throughout the decade from 2004 to 2014, before being substantially enhanced to Rs. 15,000 in September 2014.
Raising the ceiling to Rs. 25,000 will bring a substantial segment of employees in the Rs.15,000– Rs.25,000 wage band within the statutory social security framework.
